"STOLEN TRUCKS ARE STOLEN JOBS"

TRUCK THEFT IS …

    A threat to your livelihood
An increasing problem for the police to tackle with their resources
A prime reason behind rising insurance costs

TRUCK THEFT … a Growing Menace

Over £500 million worth of trucks and goods are stolen each year.
There are 40,000 truck crimes a year in the UK.
Over 3000 HGV's are stolen each year and never recovered.

TRUCKWATCH … The Answer

Truckwatch is an anti-crime initiative, of the Road Haulage Association and Freight Transport Association in partnership with the police supported by sponsoring companies.

Its purpose, to reduce truck crime and help protect your livelihood.

REWARDS

As a Truckwatch member driver you can claim a reward should your sighting lead to recovery of the vehicle. Truckwatch has a Rewards Committee which determines these amounts.

HOW DOES TRUCKWATCH WORK?

  1. If your vehicle is stolen, advise the police immediately, dialing 999.
  2. The police will require certain information about the vehicle for their purposes. Relevant parts will be transferred to a Stolen Vehicle form which will be faxed immediately, via bureau, to all other members of Truckwatch.
  3. On receipt of the fax, members will advise their drivers a quickly as possible, using appropriate means, such as CB or telephone if available. Within minutes of your reporting the theft, hundreds of drivers will have the details of your stolen vehicle to look for.
  4. A driver sighting your truck will take details of location and advise the police (sometimes via their office), of its whereabouts.
  5. Under no circumstances should the driver attempt to stop a stolen vehicle. This is the responsibility of the police, and should be left to them.
  6. The driver who sights the stolen truck can apply through his company to the police authority's Truckwatch Liaison Officer for a reward claim form which, once completed, will be considered for a Truckwatch reward.

As a member of Truckwatch, you can play your part in aiding your fellow truckers who have had a truck stolen. Remember, it could be your truck next.
